đMovement as a Meeting Ground: Curating Wellness at Work
What creating a run/ walk group at work has reminded me.
âHow can movement be used to build community?â
If you know me, you know that question has been at the core of so much of my life, both personally and professionally. Whether Iâm planning a run club, curating a healing space, or simply inviting folks into intentional conversation, movement has always been more than fitness to me. Itâs a tool. A doorway. A meeting ground.
Recently, with the return to the office five days a week, I started asking a new version of that question:
âWhat could it look like to build that same kind of community within the workplace?â
What if movement wasnât something we squeezed in before meetings or after work, but something that helped shape our work experience itself?
đ95 Degrees. 9 Runners/Walkers. 1 New Community.
Yesterday marked the very first run of Prime Runners, an employee-led running group at Amazon HQ2. It was 95 degrees in Arlington. The humidity was thick. And still, 9 of us showed up. We laced up, we moved, we connected. And in that sweaty, beautiful moment, something new began.
As someone deeply passionate about wellness and curating intentional spaces for connection, this wasnât just another run. It was a reflection of whatâs possible when we reimagine what community looks like, especially in professional environments where wellness and connection too often take a backseat.
Prime Runners was born from that belief:
đđžââď¸ A place where fitness meets belonging
đ¤ A way to connect beyond job titles and calendars
đ A reminder that we can build something meaningful togetherâstep by step
This is just the beginning.
What excites me most isnât just the runningâitâs the potential.
The potential to build more spaces like this at work.
The potential to shift how we think about professional wellness.
The potential to create something rooted in joy, accessibility, and shared momentum.
Prime Runners is one small answer to a big questionâand I canât wait to keep running toward more.
Whether youâre part of a workplace, a community group, or just trying to build better habits in your corner of the world, I hope this reminds you: wellness doesnât need to be separate from how we live and work. In fact, it works better when itâs woven right in.
